Proposal: Clean drinking water sustainment project, Kenya; Africa.

Daily, many persons mostly women and children spend from 2-4 hours per day collecting water. Methods such as walking long distances to creeks or water collection tanks result in hauling this water for daily use. Persons must then boil the water. After the boiling process, cool down time is needed for the water to be used to drink and wash with. We at Tie the Race feel this is unacceptable being that we even flush our toilets with clean drinking water many times per day. The hard work, time and dedication for simple things such as water becomes a lifestyle. This precious time is spent away from education, (for CHILDREN) family time, (for WOMEN) and working to provide for families (For MEN).  The sanitation issues that you face without accessible clean drinking water are of huge concern due to infectious diseases, diseases found in water collection and general contamination due to the lack of sanitary conditions.

Our initiative is to put in a bore hole (a deep, narrow hole made in the ground, especially to locate water). This water will provide clean drinking water to the people of Karabondi, Kenya. We plan to hire a crew to dig this on land that is the connected to the local school (The Mirembe Primary School). The staff and children will have access to this drinking water while at the school. The next phase of the project will be to pipe out water from the borehole to provide economic growth to the village town, community members will be able to pay a reasonable amount for their home water usage to the Tie the Race organization.  The money raised for water usage will go to help with the costs associated with that school such as, building 3 new classrooms to replace the current covered outdoor classrooms, education needs, and further community developments.
